Objective: Aldosterone production can be regulated by adrenocorticotrophic hormone (ACTH) which normally controls cortisol secretion. Some cases of aldosterone-producing adenoma (APA) display features which may suggest increased sensitivity to the stimulatory effects of ACTH.
